Michael, May You Rest in Peace

I am very sad. Michael, consummate artist. Thank you for what you gave us.

  1. I agree that its sad, but its amazing how his death completely overshadowed Farrah Faucett's death. Does anyone else see that too?

  2. Well, I guess you had to grow up with him and his music. You had to have gone through the 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. with him....it's hard to explain....not to sound too harsh, but the reason the media may be focussing more on him is that she was a pretty "Charlie's Angel" and he was an insanely talented artist -- singer, composer, choreographer, dancer extraordinaire, humanitarian, etc.

  3. I think it has to do with the fact that we've been expecting Farrah's death for quite some time. There's been the documentary about her treatments and the constant word that she was failing. The networks had specials on last night about her at 10pm, which were nice tributes.

But, Michael's death is totally unexpected, untimely, and mysterious in a way....it's way too much of a shock to absorb. His news shut down google for almost an hour, and twitter crashed as well. When it was first on the jumbotron in Times Square, they said there was an audible gasp/groan from the crowds. It takes a lot to overpower the natural noise of Times Square!

  5. Many good points in this very serious discussion. Here's the heart of the matter: MJ was a groundbreaking musician/songwriter/singer/dancer, and Farrah . . . was a hairdo.

  6. Yeah, but she was SUCH a hairdo. If that poster were reprinted now, it would still make millions.

  7. I never liked her. Her face was too square, and she came across as such a be-atch.
